Bio / Translations / Publications / Link to CV

I’m a Minnesotan, born and raised in Redwood Falls. After graduating from Vassar College with a degree in drama, I spent the next decade living in the Northeast, working as a theater professional, attending grad school, and teaching at a number of colleges and universities.

I started out as a development associate for New York Theatre Workshop, an award-winning nonprofit theater that produces some of the city’s most adventurous work.

In 2000, I was awarded a Jacob K. Javits Fellowship from the U.S. Department of Education to support graduate study at Yale School of Drama, where I earned an MFA in dramaturgy and dramatic criticism and was awarded the John W. Gassner Memorial Prize for my writing. I continued on at Yale as a doctoral candidate and teaching fellow, with support from the Mellon Foundation, earning my DFA and working as the associate editor of Theater magazine.

Since my return to Minnesota in 2009, I’ve built a freelance career that encompasses dramaturgy, editing, writing, and teaching. When time allows, I work on translation and adaptation projects, and I’ve been fortunate to have some of those staged and published.
